The Independence Regional Medical Center, built in 1909, served the Independence community for nearly 100 years until it was abandonded by HCA in 2007. After much deliberation city leaders partnered to give it a new life.

This is at the former Independence Regional Health Center on the 5th floor, which is still in it’s former state. I shot this today for a piece that will air on KCPT’s Local Show next Thursday April 14th at 7:30 so tune in!

The Kansas City Community Kitchen at 8th and Paseo in Kansas City offers a very warm and welcoming setting to Kansas City’s hungry and serves thoughtfully prepared, healthy food. Designed by Jennifer Bertrand of Olathe Kansas, winner of HGTV’s 2008 Design Star, this community kitchen offers a beautiful setting to all who enter. Look and see what remarkable things the Episcopal Community Services are doing in this place!

In the making, Tony and I wrote and directed this piece together for KCPT. Tony was the DP, and I shot my first handful of shots on the 7d as well! (What a cool camera.) I headed up post production, though we both crafted the story together.

It aired Thursday December 23rd on the Local Show.
